Inequality and Fear in the News

I see the child welfare system as a small part of much larger issues plaguing our society: racism, rising class inequality, lack of social safety nets, gender discrimination. I see it as related to other topics that are frequently in the news: policing and mass incarceration, political disenfranchisement by changes in voting laws, unemployment, and the effects of massive inequality on schools, mental health systems, health care systems, and our political process. I'll use this space to compile news stories and to comment on the interconnections I see. Please check back often!
